About Us
I started Black Butterfly Designs, LLc, initially to create beautifully designed weddings and events that would prioritize color, style and represent their chosen theme. Prior to starting BBD, I worked with friends and family to plan and design over twenty events as "passion projects". In 2017, after many years of doing the work, I finally decided to pursue it as a business. I am proud to have successfully completed ten professional events between August 2018 thru December 2019, in addition to several under a local event planner.
Facing the unexpected challenges in 2020, including my own recovery from COVID-19, I decided to pivot the focus to home decor accents.
Black Butterfly Decor (Home Decor & Personalized Gifts), was re-born as a handcrafted home decor and personalized gifts business, focused on designing accents to promote mental wellness through intentional use of color, shapes and designs inspired by nature.The shift was met with enthusiastic support, evident in the positive responses on my Instagram page and local pop-up events. Intrigued by our intentional design philosophy and commitment to mental health conversations, customers embraced our unique and functional art. Our use of color has become a signature feature, drawing people in with a vibrant display resembling a beautiful rainbow following a storm.
Along with many other creative talents, I also bring an education in Interior Architecture and Design, knowledge in Color Psychology and commitment to Mental Health Awareness.
While enrolled in a class on Color Psychology, I began to understand the relationship between mental health and our surroundings, in particular the colors in our surroundings. After further studies, I began shifting color patterns and placement in my home and noticed an almost immediate change in our mood and desire to spend time in certain rooms including the natural shift in room purpose.
It became part of my mission to help others improve their dwelling spaces beginning with the little details.
While many focus on the paint and furniture...the big things, it's often the "little" details we overlook.
From initially creating resin coasters to expanding our range with ocean resin cutting boards, napkin rings, laser engraved trays, bowls, and wall art, we are helping to improve health through intentional living spaces around the world.We begin each process with a clear surface, both physically and mentally. Colors are chosen based on seasonal palettes, customer requests, or mood. We gather resin and needed ingredients or we complete a digital design and ready the laser printer.
Black Butterfly Décor is not just about resin and wood items; it’s a reflection of our commitment to thoughtful craftsmanship and the meaningful combination of design, color and mental wellness.
Meet our Founder
Christine Marie, mom of 2 and Los Angeles native, brings an extensive creative background as a Sewist, Event Planner & Designer, student of Interior Architecture & Design, more. Christine harnesses the energy of color to design spaces and accent decor, aiming to enhance mental health.
